The revolutionary Seakeeper anti-roll gyro now available through Wajax in Canada

Toronto, Ontario – July 15, 2020 – Wajax is proud to announce their recent partnership with Seakeeper, Inc. – the world’s leading manufacturer of innovative gyroscopic stabilization devices for marine vessels over 23 feet in length. This new agreement appoints Wajax as the exclusive dealer of Seakeeper products in Canada, with the exception of British Columbia.

Intended for both pleasure craft and commercial vessels, Seakeeper’s revolutionary technology changes the boating experience by eliminating up to 95 percent of all boat roll, the rocking motion that causes seasickness, fatigue and anxiety. How does it work? Inside a vacuum encapsulation, a flywheel spins at speeds of up to 9,750 rpm. When the boat rolls, the sphere tilts fore and aft (precesses), producing a powerful gyroscopic torque to port and starboard that counteracts the boat roll. Seakeeper’s computerized control and vacuum technology make it the first truly practical, and only modern, anti-roll gyro.

“Not only does Seakeeper add to the enjoyment of boating, but more importantly to increased safety by decreasing boat roll, allowing boaters and workers to remain on the water for a longer period of time,” said Stephen Pechkoff, Wajax Regional Sales Manager – Engines & Transmissions. “The beauty of Seakeeper’s products is how effective they are – seeing truly is believing.”

“Seakeeper makes boating more accessible for everyone, from the veteran captain to the first-timer,” said Brook Stevens, Seakeeper OEM Sales Manager. “Those who suffer from seasickness see an obvious benefit, and those who don’t feel less fatigued. You aren’t being knocked around the boat, your gear stays in place, and the entire experience is more comfortable.”

Seakeeper products are designed to work under many conditions on the water, both while a boat is docked and while it is in motion. The completely self-contained system means there’s no added drag or increased risk of damage from an impact or snag. Seakeeper products require modest electrical power, have no outside appendages, and can be installed virtually anywhere on board.

You can integrate a Seakeeper product to a boat that you already own, but if you are looking to buy a new one, some manufacturers install Seakeeper products at the factory. As it becomes a must-have item on many boats, every day more and more manufacturers are installing a Seakeeper product at the factory. New boat owners now have the benefit of thoughtful installation right from the boat’s initial design. With respect to existing vessels, most of them can be retrofit with a Seakeeper product as well.

“The response amongst our customer base has been fantastic,” said Mr. Pechkoff. “We’re already experiencing high quotation activity and have our first vessels operating with Seakeeper products in multiple regions across Canada.” The Seakeeper product line complements Wajax’s existing offering of Volvo and MTU marine engines, generator sets and propulsion systems – all backed by expert service and in-house engineering capabilities.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Wajax as a Seakeeper distributor and are very confident they’re the right team to represent us in the Canadian marine market,” said Seakeeper President & CEO Andrew Semprevivo. “With a national footprint and a solid history of industry experience, Wajax is well positioned to meet the unique needs of Canadian boaters. Wajax technicians have been trained in our Mohnton, Pennsylvania factory to expertly install and service Seakeepers and will refresh their skills annually with us.”
